Highest Observation Deck in US

Willis Tower’s dazzling height is even more breathtaking when experienced from the 103rd-floor windows of the Skydeck observatory and the Ledge, which extends more than four feet from the side of the building, allowing visitors the opportunity to walk out among the clouds at 1,353 feet above the street.

Skydeck offers an unforgettable view of the Windy City from 1,353 feet in the air, but you shouldn’t just take our word for it: Skydeck Chicago’s reviews attest to the unforgettable nature of the experience. Just take a look at what our visitors have said and some of the accolades the experience has earned, then buy your own ticket or contact us with any questions.

Hello, we were here.

This is a very beautiful building, with a viewing platform over the entire city.

Simply wonderful, the view is legendary and beautiful with a view of the whole of Chicago.

Be prepared to wait, it can sometimes take up to 1 hour until you get to the top.

The best way to order tickets is online.

This is a trip for everyone, for young and old, for families, for couples, for friends or alone.

Every visit here is worth it.

Really very cool done.

I really enjoyed the trip.

Feel free to come by, you have to be here at least once when you are in Chicago.

We’d love to come back.

See you next time.

We visited the Skydeck totally spontaneously on a Saturday night and had such a great experience! We were originally going to buy tickets at the self-checkout kiosk, but the prices were pretty high, so I checked online and found a much better deal through Tripster. The tickets were emailed instantly and we walked right in with the barcodes.

Before reaching the ledge, you go through a really well-done museum with interactive displays about Chicago’s history, architecture, and the Willis Tower. It definitely adds to the whole experience.

Once you get to the Skydeck, the line looks long but moves quickly and efficiently. We actually got to go out on the ledge multiple times and take plenty of photos. They take one professional photo from above, then you get 90 seconds to take your own. At the end, all the photos taken of you get uploaded to a card they give you, and you can download a few digital postcards for free.

Even though it was raining the night we went, the views were still breathtaking. It’s a little pricey, but honestly worth it — it’s not something you do every day, and the views alone make it memorable. We’d love to come back on a clear day to get more pictures together.

Highly recommend for both locals and visitors!

The view was beautiful! And it’s great that they allow you to take your own pictures. They do take some, but you have to pay extra for them in the end. We went at night so we could see the lights which was perfect for me. There was also a cute little attraction on the history of Chicago before you go up.

View on a clear day from the top of the Sears tower is phenomenal. Great to visit early in your stay to get a sense of the size and beauty of the Chicago skyline. The city by keeping their old historic buildings and carefully planning new construction gives Chicago a skyline and architectural history unmatched, which is on display from the 103rd floor of Skydeck Chicago. They also have glass floored decks that allow you to look down to the street, but be prepared there is a separate line upstairs to get pics on the deck, that will add 30 mins to your time at the top.

The Willis Tower Skydeck is a must visit when in Chicago. It gives you a unique birds eye prospective of the amazing architecture this city encompasses!

During your visit, have your phone cameras out and ready to deploy as you will want to take as many breathtaking photos of the skyline and building tops.

Best time to visit is around dusk, right when the sun’s about to set and the city lights turn on…

Be sure to pop your ears up on your way up and down and have a great time!

For those that read this, some tips;

-You can take your own water bottles and drinks
-Get your tickets in advance online as they are booked by time slots. If you show up, the time slot closest to you, could be sold out then you’re stuck waiting around for an hour or more.
-Once you have the tickets, you have to wait by the lobby and gift shops. They provide on a screen that says, “now accepting tickets for X time (time slot you booked). Wait about 10 min after that time slot and go ahead and proceed to the guy scanning tickets.
-Once your tickets are scanned there is a walk through museum that can take you up to 30 min to walk through. It is actually very informative and keeps you engaged with many photo opportunities.
-Once you have finished the self walk through tour, then you form another line that takes you in an elevator to the top.
-once you are at the top, then it is another walk through with spectacular views before heading back to the exit, which then leads you to the legde to take photos. Be prepared to wait for at least 30+ minutes to take a photo on the skydeck.
-You are only allowed 1.5 minutes on the sky deck then proceed back to the elevator to the exit.
-There are bathrooms up at the deck as well as drinks and a small gift shop.
-Stollers are allowed. Bags are allowed and must go through a metal detector.
-There is also a big food court in the main lobby of the tower. So no need to find food before hand.

Hope this helps anyone with their trip!

Skydeck Chicago is one of the most unforgettable attractions in the city and absolutely worth a visit. Located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower, it offers a stunning panoramic view of Chicago that stretches for miles — you can even see parts of four states on a clear day! The elevator ride is super fast and smooth, and once you reach the top, the view will take your breath away. The highlight, of course, is The Ledge — the glass boxes that extend out from the building. Standing on it feels both exciting and terrifying at the same time, but it’s a must for anyone visiting. The staff are friendly and patient, helping everyone get great photos safely. The exhibits before the elevator ride are also very well done, giving you insight into Chicago’s history and architecture. It can get busy, especially around sunset, so booking tickets online ahead of time is highly recommended. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local seeing the city from a new angle, Skydeck Chicago offers an experience that’s thrilling, beautiful, and uniquely Chicago.

Absolutely amazing experience! The little museum section before going up was a great surprise — very well done and full of interesting facts. The elevator ride up was fast and smooth, and then… the grand finale! Standing on the glass ledge and taking a photo “in the air” was just incredible. WoW! A must-do experience if you’re visiting the city.
google
First of all it’s expensive! Roughly $50 per person but figured when will we ever get the chance to do this again.
I didn’t expect all of the exhibits and photo opportunities so that helped to ease the initial costs.
The elevator ride was entertaining and of course the views were amazing.
It was definitely a different perspective when standing in the glass cubes and looking straight down.
It was also entertaining with the people watching! A lot of people acting like they were on a professional photo shoot posing in the glass boxes and the selfie sticks were in full action. People are so self absorbed they think they are the star attraction standing in front of the Chicago landscape.
Anyhow it is absolutely worth considering while visiting Chicago.
