2023 NASCAR Chicago Street Race


 

In its 75-year history, NASCAR has never come to Chicago—but that’s about to change! The first-ever NASCAR Chicago street race will take place on the weekend of July 1-2, when world-class race cars will battle it out on the streets in and around Grant Park. The 2.2-mile course includes white-knuckle turns and straightaways that will allow NASCAR drivers to exceed speeds of 100 mph.

The NASCAR Chicago street race is the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything that midsummer in the Windy City has to offer, from A-list musical entertainment to culinary experiences and other festival events for the whole family. Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower is less than a mile from Grant Park—so you can get a unique bird’s-eye view of the course from one of the world’s tallest towers!

Is Skydeck Chicago Open During the NASCAR Chicago Street Race?

Absolutely! You can plan your Skydeck Chicago visit for NASCAR Chicago Street Race weekend. The City of Chicago collaborated closely with NASCAR on a traffic plan that would minimize disruptions and keep key features accessible to visitors through the weekend. The most significant street closures will take place on Sunday, June 25 as crews set up the course. Roads will fully reopen as early as the morning of Monday, July 3.

In addition, many popular public features of Grant Park will remain open with minimal restrictions, including:

  • Buckingham Fountain
  • Butler Field
  • Lower Hutchinson Field
  • Millennium Park
  • Maggie Daley Park
  • Museum Campus

Which Streets Will Be Closed for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race?

Some streets that run through or surround Grand Park will be impacted by periodic closures during the NASCAR Chicago Street Race weekend and the preceding week:

  • Columbus Drive
  • Jackson Blvd
  • Michigan Ave
  • Roosevelt Road
  • Balbo Drive
  • DuSable Lake Shore Drive
